Ordering Mechanical Items and Saving Quotes

Our latest software release allows you to

1. Include mechanical items on your Bill of Materials in your PCB order
2. Save PCB quotes and view them alongside your orders

Ordering Mechanical Items

We have made it easy to include mechanical items in your orders.  Mechanical items are items that need to be added to the PCB but do not get soldered on and have no placement data.  Review the Mechanical BOM release notes for how to add these to your design.  Mechanical BOM items are managed on the Bill of Materials page.

When you go to order a PCB with mechanical items you will be given the option to include mechanical items on your order.  Mechanical items must be manually priced, so you will have to request part sourcing for any orders with mechanical items.

If your PCB passes all of its checks you will be able to place your order without MBOM or request part sourcing.

If your PCB has other items needing part sourcing you will see the option to add mechanical items to your part sourcing request.

When you request part sourcing, you will now see Mechanical items alongside your Electrical items.  Add any notes that could help MacroFab in sourcing your parts, click "Submit Request", and "MacroFab" will create a quote for you with all of the parts you include.

Save and Share Quotes

With this release it is easier to save and share quotes for your PCBs, making it easier for you to come back later or share the quote with someone else in your organization.

How it works

Create a quote from your PCB with your desired delivery schedule and quantity.

1. Choose the quantity and tier you want quoted.
2. If your PCB is ready to order click "Save Quote".
3. If your PCB has custom specifications or parts needing sourcing help, click "Request Parts Sourcing".  MacroFab will send you a quote with pricing captured for those parts.

Anytime you create a quote or order, you will now see the "Review Quote" tab where you will be able to see the pricing breakdown on the PCB view.  Quotes have expiration dates to prevent issues with parts becoming unavailable or price changes. 

You can view your saved quotes alongside your orders on the order view.

Quotes will appear alongside orders with filters allowing you to look at both quotes and orders. Additionally, expired quotes can be filtered out using a toggle. 

Quote Expiration

All quotes are given expiration dates to prevent the quote from containing stale pricing or availability information when the order is placed.

When your quote goes past the expiration date on the "Review Quote" tab, you will:

1. Not be able to pay for the order
2. See the below warning bar

You can either create a new quote for your PCB by clicking the link in the warning or by reaching out to support to extend your current quote.
