PCB File Manager

How to view and upload files associated with your PCB

File Manager Overview

The MacroFab file manager gives you a place to upload and manage files that contain information about your design but do not fall into one of the standard file formats (Gerbers, ODB++, BOM xlxs, XYRS).

You can upload and store PDFs, images, and other files communicating manufacturing data to your PCB.  All of the PCB files are secure and can only be viewed by users who can view your PCB design.  The file manager provides several benefits including:

  1. Communicating extra design information such as rigid-flex board layouts, manufacturing notes, and other specifications
  2. Providing a secure place to store and communicate ITAR restricted and other sensitive design data
  3. Reducing the risk of replaced information being used

Using the File Manager

On the PCB page you will see a button in the top right called "Files".

The "Files" tab shows 3 columns:

  1. Uploaded files - files uploaded on the design tab or BOM to be processed by the platform
  2. Processed files - files extracted from the uploaded files for use in generating the stackup, placements, and bill of material
  3. Additional Files - a place where you can upload and view files the platform won't try to process

Managing Additional Files

Additional files can be uploaded on the Files tab and viewed in either the Simple or Detailed view.  The simple view shows a list of all the files associated with the PCB.

The detailed view shows all of the same files, but it includes more information including submission date, uploader, and size.  You can expand or collapse folders within the detailed view to easily find the files you are looking for.

Versioning and file types are planned, but not currently supported.  To replace a file in the platform you should use the same name as the current file.  I.e. a new file to replace "rigid flex.pdf" should be called "rigid flex.pdf".

FAQ

Q: Can I share the file?

A: Yes!  Copying the link creates a secure way to share the file to anyone else who has access to the PCB.
