How can my team share designs and have our Purchasing Team pay for our Orders

With MacroFab's new Team Accounts & Collaborative Tools Release, teams can share designs and assign orders for payment by their Purchasing Team

Finding new ways to work with our teammates has been a new skill that many of us have learned over the past year of distributed teams and remote work. While working collaboratively is nothing new for teams at software companies, there are unique challenges faced by teams that are focused on bringing hardware products to market quickly and keeping production schedules running smoothly.

Despite electronics manufacturing being a high-tech industry, the process by which teams collaborate to get products made relies on inefficient tools and processes. The stakes couldn't be higher, which is why we are proud to introduce the MacroFab Team Accounts & Collaborative Tools release that redefines how work gets done and addresses some of the long-standing sources of frustration in manufacturing like missed deadlines, wrong data, and organizing your IP and keeping it safe.

With the new release, we have designed the Platform to be flexible enough to support whatever you consider to be a team, such as by department, project-based, or companywide. To get you up to speed, we've organized our knowledgebase into a few key areas that explain how to use the new functionality, which include:

Organization Admin Page Overview

The organization admin page allows you to manage all and invite the users that comprise your MacroFab account. You'll also be able to set key organizational level details such as contact information, addresses, and billing details.

Invitations Overview

Invitations allow you to quickly add users to your MacroFab account so that you can collaborate with them on designing PCBs, ordering PCBs, or managing production releases.

How to use the Roles & Permissions Manager

Roles and permissions are how you will control what the users in your MacroFab account can do. We have several default roles such as Admin, Engineer, and Purchasing and give you the ability to create custom roles with unique permissions that match your business's unique needs.

Creating Orders and Collaborative Purchasing Overview

MacroFab offers different ways to pay for an order depending on how you have configured your user's roles and permissions. These include credit cards and using preapproved credit terms. We also support purchase order numbers so you can associate your company's PO number with every order. Once your team is set up in your MacroFab account, you will then be able to use several tools that allow you to collaborate with your teammates, including but not limited to sending requests for purchase of your organization's PCBs.
